And what better way to explore this beautiful region than with a LandyCamper? Offering both comfort and flexibility, a LandyCamper ensures you make the most of your journey. Here's a detailed 5-Night 6-day itinerary that takes you through the heart of Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk, and makes the most of the unique early pickup and late return times LandyCampers offers!

The stunning coastline of North Norfolk

Day 1: Essex's Countryside Charm to Cambridgeshire's Natural Beauty

  • Morning: Start your adventure in the rolling hills of Essex. Known for its historical landmarks and lush greenery, Essex provides the perfect backdrop for the beginning of your journey. Visit a local market in Saffron Walden or Thaxted, immerse yourself in the local history, and gather fresh produce for your trip.

  • Afternoon: Transition into the serene landscapes of Cambridgeshire. Your first stop is the eco-friendly Cuckoo Fen Campsite. Surrounded by native trees and wildlife, it's a camper's paradise.

  • Evening: As twilight approaches, explore the RSBP Ouse Fen Reserve. Witness the mesmerizing sunset hues reflecting off the vast reedbeds, creating a magical atmosphere.

Day 2: Dive Deep into Cambridgeshire and Touch Norfolk's Edges

  • Morning: Wake up to the chirping of birds at Cuckoo Fen. After a hearty breakfast, head to Wicken Fen National Trust Nature Reserve. Dive deep into the fen's history and marvel at its biodiversity.

  • Afternoon: As you drive towards the enchanting landscapes of Norfolk, take a detour to Barn Owl Camping, surrounded by open fields and an abundance of wildlife.

  • Evening: Relax under the vast Norfolk sky at Barn Owl Camping, letting the tranquillity envelop you.

At the right time of year, spot the seals in the Blakeney Nature Reserve

Day 3: Norfolk - From Coastal Wonders to Inland Treasures

  • Morning: Set your sights on Blakeney National Nature Reserve. This coastal gem is a haven for seals and offers breath-taking views of the North Sea.

  • Afternoon: Continue your coastal escapade to Weybourne Beach. The juxtaposition of steep cliffs and the vast sea creates a dramatic landscape, perfect for photography enthusiasts.

  • Evening: Retreat inland to Spring Farm Campsite. With its eco-friendly ethos and a serene fishing pond, it's the ideal spot to rejuvenate.

Day 4: Norfolk's Forested Beauty to Suffolk's Ale Trails

  • Morning: Experience the majesty of Thetford Forest. Whether you're a hiking enthusiast or a nature lover, this forest promises a memorable experience.

  • Morning: Wake up to the serene surroundings of Sparrow's Campsite in Halstead. After a hearty breakfast, drive to the picturesque village of Finchingfield, often referred to as the "most photographed village in England". Its duck pond, village green, and humpback bridge create a scene straight out of a postcard.

  • Mid-Morning to Early Afternoon: Embark on a delightful walk from Finchingfield to Wethersfield and back. This round-route walk offers a mix of charming village scenes, open fields, and wooded paths. Along the way, you'll encounter historical churches, traditional English cottages, and perhaps even some local wildlife. The walk is a perfect way to immerse yourself in the tranquil Essex countryside and breathe in the fresh air. Alternatively, for beach-lovers, head East to Mersea Island, a unique part of the Essex coast that boasts beautiful walks and iconic colourful beach-huts! Stop for lunch at the famous Company Shed seafood spot, a firm favourite of ours for many years (well, decades!)

  • Early Afternoon: After lunch, take a leisurely drive through the Essex countryside, making your way back towards LandyCampers HQ. This is a great time to reflect on the adventures of the past few days, perhaps even planning your next LandyCamper journey.
